Ford Maintenance Plans by Model: F-150, Escape, Explorer, Bronco & Super Duty
Ford Protect builds its Premium Maintenance Plan around each vehicle's Owner's Scheduled Maintenance Guide, so a Ford F-150 plan and a Ford Escape plan cover different work. Ford describes it as prepaid coverage for scheduled maintenance, routine inspections and select wear items such as brake pads, spark plugs and wiper blades.

Ford F-150 Maintenance and Plan Coverage
V
On the Ford F-150, the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor times each oil change, and gas engines are capped at one year or 10,000 miles per interval. Ford pairs every oil change with a tire rotation, a brake inspection, a coolant check and inspections of the 4WD front axle, halfshaft boots, driveshaft, ball joints and suspension.
The plan pays for those visits, tire rotations and multi-point inspections included, at the interval you pick, and a truck that tows regularly can add Severe Duty Maintenance Coverage. Spark plugs, a covered plan item, come due at 100,000 miles on a normal F-150 schedule, with automatic transmission fluid and filter at 150,000.
- Tread depth measured at every oil change visit
- Raptor off-road use: front axle and transfer case fluid at 30,000
- Bed power outlet plus severe use: spark plugs at 60,000

Ford Escape Maintenance and Plan Coverage
V
The Ford Escape owner's manual for 2025 and 2026 models is the only one of these five to print sample oil change ranges: 7,500 to 10,000 miles for normal driving, 5,000 to 7,500 for severe use such as moderate to heavy towing, mountain driving or extended idling, and 3,000 to 5,000 for extreme conditions.
That table helps Escape owners choose among the plan's three intervals. Ford adds Escape maintenance only for vehicles driven primarily in special conditions: towing or a car-top carrier brings transmission fluid at 30,000 miles and spark plugs at 60,000, and dusty or sandy roads move oil and filter changes to every 5,000 miles or six months.
- AWD models: rear axle and U-joints inspected each oil change
- Normal schedule: spark plugs at 100,000 miles
- Heavy idling or short trips: transmission fluid at 30,000

Ford Explorer Maintenance and Plan Coverage
V
Each Ford Explorer oil change visit includes a tire rotation, a multi-point inspection and checks of the brakes, cooling system, exhaust, axles, U-joints, halfshaft boots, steering and suspension. The mileage schedule replaces the cabin air filter at 20,000 miles and the engine air filter at 30,000, and brake fluid is changed every three years.
The Explorer spark plug interval depends on driving: Ford lists 100,000 miles for normal use and 60,000 for severe service. Spark plugs are a covered plan item, so an Explorer that tows or idles often can pair that shorter interval with Severe Duty Maintenance Coverage and the Full Synthetic Oil Option, offered on most vehicles.
- Accessory drive belt inspection at 100,000 miles
- Automatic transmission fluid change at 150,000 miles
- Coolant first replaced at 10 years or 200,000 miles

Ford Bronco Maintenance and Plan Coverage
V
The Ford Bronco oil change checklist includes grease work, lubricating fittings on the front axle U-joints, steering linkage, ball joints and driveshaft where they apply. For severe service, the 2025 and 2026 Bronco manuals move front axle and transfer case fluid to 30,000 miles and spark plugs from 100,000 to 60,000 miles.
After off-road driving, the Bronco manual says to check the wheels and tires before returning to the road, clean mud from the radiator, make sure the air filter is clean and dry and look for stones trapped in the brakes. On trail-driven Broncos, Severe Duty Maintenance Coverage puts plan visits on 5,000-mile intervals.
- Clear plant and brush buildup underneath after trail runs
- Manual transmission fluid change listed at 150,000 miles
- Regular water crossings: have every fluid checked for water

Ford Super Duty Maintenance and Plan Coverage
V
For diesel Ford Super Duty trucks, Ford's manual calls for refilling the diesel exhaust fluid tank at every oil change and draining the fuel and water separator when needed. Both fuel filters, engine-mounted and frame-mounted, are replaced every 30,000 miles, or 15,000 under diesel severe service.
Ford Protect's plan includes a diesel exhaust fluid fill during scheduled dealer maintenance, and Severe Duty Maintenance Coverage suits trucks that tow often. On dual-rear-wheel trucks, Ford rotates only the front wheels unless rear wear looks unusual. Gas Super Duty engines take spark plugs at 100,000 miles, or 60,000 for severe service.
- Diesel air inlet foam filter: 50,000 miles, 30,000 severe
- Diesel: reset the engine air filter monitor after replacement
- Belts replaced at 100,000 miles on diesels, 150,000 on gas
