Ford Brake Inspection & Replacement Service near Collinsville, IL

Brake trouble tends to announce itself with a noise, a vibration or a change in how the pedal feels. Auffenberg Ford North inspects and repairs Ford brake systems for Collinsville drivers, from pad and rotor replacement to caliper work and brake fluid service, using Motorcraft parts engineered for Ford vehicles.

Our factory-trained technicians look at the whole system rather than a single part: wear across each pad and shoe, the condition of the rotors and calipers, any sign of a hydraulic leak and the anti-lock brake sensors. The full inspection checklist is on our Brake Service Advice page.

Ford recommends having the brakes checked at every maintenance visit, so an oil change appointment is a natural time to do it. Ford's current brake offers are listed on our Manufacturer Service Specials page.

The inspection also covers the brake hoses and connections, the parking brake and the condition and level of the brake fluid.

Signs Your Ford Needs Brake Service
V

Ford advises an inspection right away if you notice continuous grinding or squealing, vibration or shudder in the steering wheel while braking, a soft or squishy pedal, a strange odor or the brake warning light. Occasional brake noise is normal, but Ford notes that a metal-to-metal or continuous grinding sound can mean the linings are worn.

If the brake warning lamp stays on while you drive with the parking brake released, Ford's owner's manual says it indicates low brake fluid or a brake system fault and warns that driving with the lamp on is dangerous, so have the vehicle checked as soon as possible. Describe what you hear or feel when you book so the technician knows where to begin.

Brake Service Advice
Brake Pad, Rotor and Brake Fluid Service
V

When pads are worn, our technicians fit Motorcraft pads designed for your Ford and check the rotors at the same time. Ford recommends replacing rotors that show warping, grooves or wear near minimum thickness, while rotors with enough material left may not need replacement.

Brake fluid matters as well. Ford's schedule calls for changing it every three years, and Ford notes that brake fluid servicing requires special equipment available at an authorized dealer. If a change is due, ask about it when you book new pads or an oil change.

If you have questions about the pad and rotor measurements, ask your service advisor.

Ford Service Department
Motorcraft Pads and the Lifetime Brake Pad Guarantee
V

Ford backs Motorcraft brake pads with its Lifetime Brake Pad Guarantee: if Motorcraft pads installed by a U.S. Ford Dealer, Lincoln Dealer or Quick Lane technician wear below three millimeters, they can be replaced for as long as you own the vehicle.

The guarantee covers the pads only, with labor excluded, and it is not transferable. It requires a copy of the original repair order and completion of any necessary brake service, such as rotor service, and it excludes commercial delivery, taxi, limousine, postal, police, tow, racing and emergency vehicles.

Ford parts installed at the dealership also carry a 24-month, unlimited-mile parts and labor limited warranty. Ford may change or discontinue these programs at any time, so your service advisor can confirm which coverage applies to your repair.
