Electric Ford F-150 Towing a Train

Electric vehicles are mainly touted for their efficiency and environmental benefits. Rarely do we focus on how well they can perform. That is, until the electric Ford F-150 prototype towed a train weighing 1.25 million pounds behind it. Don't believe us? Learn more about this endeavor with Auffenberg Ford O'Fallon, and make sure to keep in touch to find out when we can expect this model to arrive in the Collinsville area.

Electric F-150 Train-Towing Stunt

Although the modern F-150 can tow quite a bit, the electric model leaves it behind. In a video released by Ford in July 2019, a prototype of an electric Ford F-150 begins by towing multiple empty train cars, which weigh about 1 million pounds. The video then depicts crews loading the empty train cars with new Ford F-150 models, which boosts the weight to 1.25 million total pounds.

The electric F-150 seems to tow the loaded train easily. Of course, there are a number of factors that aid the F-150 in towing such a large load, but that doesn't make the stunt any less impressive.

About the Electric Ford F-150

While there's no official confirmation on the debut of the electric Ford F-150, there have been hints that it will be released in 2021 according to Car and Driver. When it does hit the market, it will be one of the first of its kind to go on sale in America. More likely than not, the electric Ford F-150 will come with the next generation of F-150 models. Otherwise, there are no mechanical details currently available about this model.

About the Hybrid Ford F-150

While we wait for the electric Ford F-150, there is another model we have to look forward to: a hybrid Ford F-150, which has been promised for 2020. This gas-electric model is sure to appeal to Fairview Heights drivers who seek enhanced fuel efficiency along with added utility, especially for those who end up going out to buy generators for their work site. Ford representatives have hailed this model as not only being able to get you to the job, but also being able to power the job site. That sounds like a pretty good deal to us here at Auffenberg Ford O'Fallon!
